— We fixed the corncrib, remodeled the inside of the barn and put in a furnace. We put in a Delco and a new roof on the house. The roof we put on at our own expense, also the Delco and the furnace. During the time that we were out there we spent about $5,000 of our savings that we had accumulated in Chicago. We have used all our savings and our real estate bonds we lost in the crash of 1929. We farmed the property and bought horses, we had a plow and he [her late husband] plowed the land. He put in wheat, corn and oats.
