— Before going to work, I sometimes stop by a fast food joint for linner (too late for lunch, too early for dinner). There's always a group of elderly African men talking about politics. Since the eating area isn't very large and since their conversation is really interesting, I listen in while I'm scarfing down my seven-minute linner. They talk about all sorts of things--health care, work, family--but when it comes to race, there's only one thing they're concerned with: "the man."
