profic

名词 n.

英文释义

名词 n.
  1. Professionally published fiction, especially tie-in fiction based on a media property. slang, uncountable
    — Fanfic is not competition. I read what interests me--and the profic ain't interesting, at least not anymore. (Except books with Vulcans. Lots and lots of Vulcans. I like Vulcans. You put out anything with Vulcans, and I'm likely to buy it, even if I read negative reviews of it. I love Vulcans.) Point is, I haven't chosen fanfic *over* profic.
  2. A work of professionally published fiction. countable, slang
    — BTW: there are some profics that I enjoy, but most of them I wonder if the author knows anything about TOS!!!! And I extend that to Bill Shatner's post-Nexus stories - there are some lovely moments, but I really don't care for his Kirk, Spock, and McCoy many times.
