  1. A transverse road marking indicating the point at which a vehicle must yield to other traffic that has the right of way at an intersection. US
    — In the absence of a marked crosswalk, the stop line or yield line should be placed at the desired stopping or yielding point, but should not be placed more than 30 feet or less than 4 feet from the nearest edge of the intersecting traveled way.
